I wanted to throw out a quick recommendation for an AI app I’ve been obsessed with: Wispr Flow. The basic premise of Wispr Flow is that anytime you hold down your FN button you’re able to speak to your computer and when you let go of the FN button it turns your speech into text anywhere in the system. I know a Push to Talk AI app doesn’t seem Revolutionary but I’m here to tell you that Wispr Flow is as close to bulletproof that I’ve seen voice to text get. Like ever.

Most operating systems have their own voice to text software built in. If you’ve ever used one of these you’ve probably never used them again. They kinda suck. They’re slow, they misunderstand you, and you never quite feel confident in them. Wispr solves this in a couple of ways. First the voice to text software stack they use is much better than anything I’ve seen built in. Second the holding of the FN button is a fantastic mechanic. Push, then talk, then done. It’s saved me so much time when I rather just say why I’m thinking vs typing it out. Even though I enjoy typing (so much so that I built my own custom keyboard) having the option to speak and have it just work is game changing. I use it for quick edits to writing things in my own voice. Wispr Flow gets out of the way and empowers me to do my thing, whatever that thing may be.

One final note: I think it’s damning that I have to subscribe to an App to do something that my operating system should do perfectly. This mechanic is so useful because of how fast and accurate it is. The fact that I find this so game changing shows how far behind my OS has become at adopting features like this one.

This quick post isn’t sponsored but you can use my Link for both of us to get a free month of Wispr Flow.
